The meeting point to car share is the MHDC
car park at the Splash at 9.30 a.m.

 All directions for the venues below assume a start from the Splash car park. All painting days run from 10am to 4pm unless otherwise stated but you are free to come and go as you please.

5th June • Upton on Severn. Meet at The Bell Coffee Shop 9, New Street, WR8 0HP.
Lots of picturesque Pubs, Shops and a Church to sketch. There’s also the Marina where you can park.

19th June • Peachfield & Longridge Commons Malvern. Meet at 95, St Andrews Road. WR14 3PU ( Pat’s house). This will be the coffee meet and loo stop all day. Lots of scenery including trees and the hills.

3rd July • Brockhampton Estate. Bringsty, Nr. Bromyard, WR6 5TR. Meet at Old Apple Store Tea Room.
National Trust property. Medieval moated Manor House, parkland trees orchard and ruined chapel.

14th August • Malvern Hills GEO Centre. Walwyn Road towards Colewall, just down from Wyche Cutting, car park on the right. Meet at H2O Café. Stunning viewsall the way to the Black Mountains of Wales.

28th August • Hartlebury Castle, DY11 7XZ. (Off A449 south of Kidderminster) Meet at café - £3 admission.
Grade 1 Listed building. Once home of the Bishop of Worcester now the County Museum with a collection of Romany Caravans and formal garden.

11th September • Malvern Town Centre. Splash car park, all meet at Lyttleton Well Café, on Church Street WR14 2AY.
Lots to draw and paint • The Priory • Belle Vue Terrace • Statue of Elgar etc.

Propose meeting at the café for 10:00. We recommend for those traveling by car that cars be parked in the main car park by the Splash.

Priory Park

 

Formerly the gardens of the Priory Mansion built in 1874 which is now used as the Council House. The park contains many specimen trees, many of which were planted in Victorian Times. There is a large duck pond which is spanned by two bridges and, a Victorian bandstand which hosts Sunday afternoon concerts during the summer.

The Nags Head nearby on the North side of Graham Road offers a convenient location for cooked refreshments and comfort. Malvern Link CommonLink Common described as Urban Greenspace, an area of open land that is statutorily protected by Malvern Hills Conservators. A pocket of countryside in the midst of town, surrounded by glimpses of the hills and some interesting buildings. Will involve some uphill climbing from the Car Park to get the best views. Either park on Moorlands Road (or go down the cul de sac and turn at the unmade drive by the grass area) or use the car park in Cockshot Road.( First left past the Station coming in from the Worcester direction then proceed down to the car park). From town centre proceed along Graham Road and turn right down Moorlands Road, then left into Cockshot Road.

Meet at Lady Foley’s Tearoom on station platform c. 10am. Try station car park in Thorngrove Road, a cul de sac below the station.

Lady Emily Foley was a key sponsor of the construction of Great Malvern Railway station. She had a waiting room made for her exclusive use, which is now “Lady Foley’s Tea Room” where she could wait for her train. The station celebrated its 150th birthday on 23rd May 2010 with the unveiling of a plaque. A particular feature of the station are the deep canopies which are supported by elaborate, cast iron girders, which in turn are supported by columns with capitals decorated with mouldings depicting different arrangements of flowers and foliage. Look out for the entrance of the “Worm”, an enclosed Grade II listed passageway which leads under Avenue Road into the former Imperial Hotel (now Malvern St James).

Hellens lies just off the A449 Ledbury to Ross on Wye Road. Follow the brown signs from the cross roads in the centre of Much Marcle. The house is open to the public on Wednesdays. Entry to the House is by guided tour and there are tours at 1, 2, 3 pm. Entry costs £9 for adults, £7.50 for concessions. Entry to the gardens only is £2.50 per person.
Hellens tea room is open from 12:30 to 5pm on Wednesday.

CradleyThe hall has its’ own small Garden backing onto the Church grounds and will be opened by Roz at 11am, the loo has a separate entrance. To keep the cost of booking the hall down we booked it for lunch for one hour at 1pm so bring your own food. There is a kitchen for making tea and a microwave. I will bring milk, tea and coffee. Suggest you bring a mug if you want tea outside. I have said we will leave at 3pm. As the lane is unpaved, you will have to walk a fair way down it to reach the hall, so wear stout shoes suitable for sharp stones and mud if wet and keep the carry kit as light as possible.
Directions. From Leigh Sinton 2.5 miles to Storridge Village Hall on corner of junction with Cowleigh Road B4219. In ¾ mile pass lane signposted Vinesend, slow down and take next left signed Cradley ¾ mile opposite the garage. Follow lane through village, approach with caution and slow, very twisty and narrow with right-angle blind left hand corner halfway through the village. In approx. Half mile climb a steep hill with a stone wall on your left near the top. Immediately round the bend at the crest turn Left at the war memorial situated on a small triangle with a bench. This marks the lane to the Church. Park either along the wall on the left, taking care to keep clear of the gates to the Old Rectory Guest House, or in the Church Carpark opposite the gates. Please do not park in front of the houses down near the Church.
Alternative route is to continue along the Hereford road past the Red Lion at Stifford’s Bridge to the main road left turn onto B4220 into modern Cradley in about 1/2 mile in the village pass Chapel Lane and take next left turn signed Mathon & Colwall which leads to Cradley. This is a wider lane. At T-junction with lane to Mathon turn left to Cradley. At the top of a steep hill the road turns sharp left and the war memorial and Church lane are directly opposite you.

The Swan Inn is at the cross roads of the B4209, Welland Road.
This is a very traditional English village centre includes a village green and pond with plenty of wild fowl and possibly a heron. Local buildings of interest include the pub, and the two churches, St Gabriel’s and St Mary’s CofE and Alphonsus RC Church. Hanley Swan was the inspiration for the setting in the novel “Black Swan” by David Mitchell.

Location: off the roundabout at the junction of the A4440 and the A44. Directions follow signs for Worcester Hospital.  Once on Swinesherd Way, take first LEFT and find free C/P on the right.
Journey approximately 20 minutes by car from Malvern Centre.

Worcester Country Park

The orchard café is set in the 100 acres of woodland and meadows which make up the Worcester Woods Country Park.
Meet at the Orchard café for coffee c. 10am Maps should be available there showing paths round the woods which are extensive. Alternative is to wander round the meadows attached to the café.
