Summer months bring the opportunity to paint outdoors at various arranged locatioBeryl Mailens.

In winter months, members meet regularly for workshops and painting sessions in Lansdowne Church Hall. Members learn and encourage each other, exchanging ideas about new media and styles. There is also a programme of demonstrations by invited professional artists.

MALVERN TERRACE ARTISTS – INFORMATION FOR ALL MEMBERS

AIMS

  1. To give members the opportunity to meet and take part in such events as indoor and   outdoor painting sessions and demonstrations.
  2. To arrange exhibitions to enable members to display and sell their paintings and cards.
  3. To promote the visual arts for the pleasure of the local community.
  4. To support local charities by way of donations from profits made at exhibitions.

CONDITIONS

  1. An Annual General Meeting is to be held to receive the Chairman’s Report and those of Committee Members as appropriate; to consider issues raised by the Committee and to address any other matters raised by members.
  2. At the AGM members are to elect officers, namely Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. Each to serve no more than three years; also to elect annually other Committee Members to cover specific tasks. The changeover is to run from 1st January.
  3. Members are responsible for an annual subscription payable at the AGM or as soon as possible thereafter. Members must pay their subscription before presenting pictures for exhibition.
  4. The financial year of the society runs from 1st October to 30th September.
  5. The Treasurer must produce a balance sheet at the end of each financial year. This is to be audited by an independent auditor and presented at the AGM.
  6. It would be appreciated if members wore name badges at meetings.

EXHIBITIONS

  1. A percentage of sales of paintings and cards is donated to a charity specified at the time of the exhibition.
  2. Exhibitors should make sure that they are not infringing the law regarding copyright. Paintings should be based on personal sketches and photographs.
  3. Pictures should be properly framed, sealed with tape on the back and fitted with hanging cords secured to metal clips or eyes. They must be labelled on the back with the title of the work, name, address and telephone number of the artist, also the price unless “Not For Sale”.
  4. Any size of painting is permissible although unsuitable or very large paintings may be refused. If necessary, specific details of size and number will be stated in relation to a specific exhibition.
  5. MTA will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work displayed at any venue.
  6. Exhibitors are expected to help with stewarding at exhibitions.
  7. Greetings cards of a member’s original work will be accepted in the following categories:

(a) hand-painted or drawn / hand created  (e.g. collage)

(b) computer or commercially printed or photographically reproduced

All cards should normally be provided with envelopes; the name of the artist and the price should be shown clearly.
Members are responsible for checking the number of cards sold at the end of the exhibition.

The Blake/Jago Cup

John Tyzzer

 

The Blake/Jago cup was presented to John Tyzzer by chair lady Janet Jones. John was selected by members' vote as the winner for the best picture painted during the oudoor summer sessions.

 

 

 

Painting Challenge 2012

We are very grateful to Adrian Fray for organizing the 2012 painting challenge. The subject Adrian chose was 'Reflections' and entrants were offered the opportunity to submit their 'Reflections' in different media. At the meeting on April 23rd there were over 50 entreies. Watercolour was the most popular media but many members had taken up the challenge and tried other media. After a demonstration on painting landscapes from photographs Ros Rowberry carefully judged the entries.

Painting Challenge 2013

Predominently Skies

As the title suggests there is no defining subject matter for this one so it's up to you!!!

Entries will be limited to a maximum of 2 using any medium but must feature mainly skies that are interesting, magnificent or beautiful - Stormy, Sunrise, Sunset, Serene, they all await your brush.

Entries will be judged on Wed 24th April 2013 by Ros Rowberry
